In the Fall of 1994, after having settled my family in western Montana. It was the fulfillment of a long term dream that I started making knives. I learned grinding from Ed Mortenson, who had learned from the late Bob Engnath. I learned forging through much independent study, fellow bladesmiths, and attending the forging class held by the ABS in Washington Arkansas, taught by master smith Jay Hendrickson.

When I make knives, my desire is to make an excellent tool which will excel in function and yet be a thing of beauty. Pride in ownership is as important to me as pride of authorship.

Currently, I enjoy forging carbon and Damascus "pattern welded" blades, mostly hunters, traditional Bowies and camp knives. I have studied under Rick Dunkerley to learn linerlock folders and am involved in some designs which hopefully will be unique to me. I make about 20 stainless steel field grade hunters a year.

I am a bladesmith for the absolute joy of it and my hope is that the knife brings as much pleasure to the owner as I've had creating it.
