Description: This chef's knife was made by Zoe Potter of Red Forge. Potter is 24 years old, hails from New Hampshire, and is a member of the American Bladesmith Society. Zoe began bladesmithing in 2016 and started making kitchen knives in 2019. Potter has taken several classes at the New England School of Metalwork in bladesmithing and blacksmithing. Outside of bladesmithing, Zoe works as a blacksmith and tool maker.
The 6-2/3 inch blade was hand forged from Zoe's own mosaic damascus, combining 1084 and 15n20 carbon steels to ensure excellent edge holding and chip resistance. The blade was forged closely to shape for optimal grain structure. The spine and choil are rounded for comfort. At 6-2/3 inches, this nimble knife is easy to control yet long enough to be your primary chef's knife in the kitch. Despite the shorter length, the blade has plenty of height for finger clearance when working over a cutting board. Because the blade is forged from carbon steels, we recommend using camellia oil to protect the blade from oxidation.
The handle is stabilized maple burl. A black Micarta frame protects the tang from moisture. The handle is contoured by hand and shaped to accommodate a comfortable pinch grip. This knife is so light and nimble you won't want to put it down! It is sure to become a kitchen favorite.
Excellent work throughout!
