This chef's knife is likely to become the primary knife used in your kitchen. The sleek blade provides finger clearance over the cutting board. The blade has a perfect shape for an efficient rocking chop. Whether chopping onions, mincing garlic, or slicing meats, this large chef's knife will be a perfect choice. It is sure to become a kitchen favorite.
The blade is forged from Andrew's own mosaic damascus, combining 1084 and 15n20 carbon steels to ensure excellent edge holding and chip resistance. The high contrast pattern is immediately captivating and demands further attention. Both the spine and choil are rounded for comfort. Andrew's touchmark is on the left side of the blade.
The bolster is integral to the blade, with the damascus pattern moving seamlessly from bolster to blade. Though this technique is regularly done in production knives, forging an integral bolster in a custom setting is extremely difficult and shows the maker's skill at its best. This technique allows the weight of the knife to be more center balanced and provides better structural integrity. The bolster is hand engraved with a garlic clove that is inlaid with fine silver and 24k gold details.
The Japanese-inspired ambidextrous octagonal handle is African blackwood. The handle is heirloom fit to the bolster and end cap ensuring there will be no sharp corners. The end cap is engraved with a basketweave pattern. This is sure to be a favorite in your kitchen!
Excellent work throughout!
