Description: Bill Burke, who was honored as a journeyman smith June 2003 and a Mastersmith in 2008, makes knives that are as high performance as hunters can get.
This Pronghorn Hunter has a nice, thick handle that was smoothed on the right side for a very comfortable right handed hold.
Like all Bill's knives, this knife was pre-tested for edge flex and cutting ability before assembly. The heat treat follows the formulas developed by Bill and Ed Fowler, Bill's teacher, and has been proven to create some of the sharpest and most long lasting edges found anywhere.
The recurve blade was hand forged from 52100 carbon steel and features a differential heat treatment, for a hard cutting edge and a soft, supportive spine. The brass guard brings the weight back to the center of the knife. When wet, sheep horn does not become slippery, and it is amazingly durable. The spacer is created by taking two sheep horn end cuts and aligning them outward, producing a very pleasing effect. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
