Description: Bladesmith Michael Rader has an artistic vision that is rarely matched. His attention to detail shines through and it is no surprise that this exceptional sword won Best Sword of Show at the 2006 Blade West Show. The sword is accompanied by the award from Blade West.
The long, wharncliffe style blade was hand forged to shape from a pattern that Michael calls Wild Random. The pattern incorporates bold tones and a mix of four separate carbon steels. Most notably, he has forged 52100 into the edge, for increased performance. his own ladder pattern Damascus combining three different carbon steels. The wharncliffe shape is immediately captivating. The guard and pommel are formed from antiqued bronze and have both been sculpted . The handle is formed from a long section of highly figured walnut burl. All this is accompanied by a display stand formed from curly maple with walnut accents.
