Description: Fred Ott's work is exceptional -- showing off his tremendous sense of design and skill in implementation. This damascus utility has been in a private collection since it was made in 2007. It has been meticulously cared for and is in new condition. By all appearances, it could have been made yesterday.
The damascus blade was hand forged from 1080 and 15N20 carbon steels for a long lasting cutting edge. The blade was forged to shape, resulting in a pattern that follows the blade edge. A distal taper creates an optimal balance in the hand. Fred's mark is on the left ricasso.
The handle is a single piece of stabilized, presentation grade mesquite burl wood. The warm toned wood has a complex swirling grain that nicely complements the fluted antiqued bronze bolster. An ancient walrus ivory cap to the pin is a nice touch. An exceptional addition to any collection and perfect for use out in the field.
To keep the knife close at hand, a custom pouch style leather sheath is included.
Excellent fit and finish throughout!
