Description: Saya, the traditional sheath for Japanese chef's knives often are friction fit. As the knife ages over time, it is thinned with each sharpening. This means that the saya can become lose. To solve this problem, pins are often used to lock the blade in place. For some knives, such as Kobayashi's Seikon Dojo line, the sayas are made with a hole already set for the pin. For others, the saya can be modified to accommodate the pin. These pins are hand crafted from ebony. Each pin measures approx. 1 inch in length with a head that is approximately 1/4 inch.
