Description: Hamon is a dramatic example of Journeyman Smith Fred Ott's work. European and Japanese styles are combined into a unique knife that grabs the imagination from first sight.
The W2 carbon steel blade was forged to shape and clay hardened using a traditional Japanese technique. The resulting heat treatment line, known as a hamon, makes a separation between the soft, supportive spine, and the ultra-hard, long lasting edge.
The antiqued bronze guard has been textured, both to provide a sure grip and to bring visual interest. A central column of ebony is perfectly fit between the bronze guard and stabilized bone butt cap. A chrysocolla pin brings blue/turquoise tones to the handle. The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched cape buffalo hide sheath. Exceptional fit and finish throughout!
