Description: Renowned Japanese knifemaker Kiku Matsuda has been grinding blades for over 40 years and is a 5th generation knife grinder. His unique, dramatic grinds are well known throughout the knife industry. His father runs a small workshop in Seki, grinding blades for production knife makers. Kiku joined his father's business at the age of 15 and learned grinding technique from his father. Kiku's skill at the grinder has become legendary.
The Rimakiri is a hunting design from Kiku that moonlights as an outdoor utility knife. Kiku's signature Hamaguri-ba grind and a flat ground swedge complete this recurved skinning/utility blade. Jimping on the thumb ramp gives the user a stable platform to guide the cutting edge. The hand sculpted micarta scales combined with the choil keep the knife securely in place even when wet. Kiku's unique lanyard setup is formed by a hole in the ricasso and the pommel to create a D-guard style lanyard that is unobtrusive and very secure. The thin profile of the Rimakiri makes it extremely lightweight and easy to carry, ensuring it will always have a place amongst your kit. An excellent gift for that special hunter-gatherer in your life (even if it's you)!
Accompanied by a Kydex sheath.
