Description: Journeyman Smith Nick Wheeler has established himself for his well-thought out designs and the conscientious -- even meticulous -- attention to detail. The proportions and sense of design throughout this knife are extremely pleasing to the eye. This knife has been in a private collection and is in new condition. By all appearances, it could have been made yesterday.
Nick began by forging a pleasing jellyroll pattern mosaic damascus from 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels. The high contrast between the steels immediately grabs attention.
The handle is formed from presentation grade Arizona desert ironwood and handsomely complements the blade. Its tight figure and rich earth tones offset the damascus with masterful execution. The handle is perfectly shaped for a secure, comfortable grip and its nimble weight almost makes it disappear in the hand. A satin finished 416 stainless steel double guard keeps the hand from slipping forward onto the blade. A custom fit hand stitched leather sheath accompanies the knife.
Excellent proportions and flawless attention to detail make Wheeler's skill as a bladesmith clearly apparent. Tremendous fit and finish throughout!
