Description: Renowned Japanese knifemaker Kikuo Matsuda has been grinding blades for over 40 years and is a 5th generation knife grinder. His unique, dramatic grinds are well known throughout the knife industry. His father runs a small workshop in Seki, grinding blades for production knife makers. Kikuo joined his father's business at the age of 15 and learned grinding techniques from his father. Kikuo's skill at the grinder has become legendary.
The Musasabi illustrates Kikuo's love for the outdoors. Named after the Japanese giant flying squirrel, this is a knife as interesting as its namesake. The OU-31 semi stainless steel (Kikuo's favorite blade steel) drop point blade features a high performance Hamaguri-ba (convex) grind with a full-length swedge. Generous jimping on the spine provides a secure area for the thumb to guide the blade. A choil just past the cutting edge allows the user to choke up on the blade for detail work, while a subtle guard prevents the hand from sliding up onto the cutting edge.
Carved green canvas micarta gives a tactile feel to the knife and is comfortable in any grip. The flared pommel has been tapped to accept a lanyard for added security. A companion built to perform no matter where your adventure takes you. Don't leave home without it! Accompanied by hand fitted Kydex sheath with Tek-Lok belt clip.
