Description: Fred Ott creates knives that are tremendously unique and engaging. This dagger is a particularly dramatic example of his work.
The blade is a twist pattern damascus that he forged from 15N20 and 1080 carbon steels. It is a nice mix of fine and bold patterns. The offset dagger-shaped blade is fully sharpened on both sides.
The ironwood handle combines reddish brown tones with dark grain for a very attractive appearance. A fileworked nickel silver spacer is fitted next to a wide spacer made from ancient walrus jaw, and artistically assembled mammoth ivory pins assist in securing blade to handle. Both the guard and finial pin are formed from antiqued, textured nickel silver. The butt cap is buffalo horn. Showing a tremendous degree of craftsmanship, this knife is made with take-down construction. By loosening the finial pin, the knife can be disassembled for maintenance.
The knife is accompanied by a basswood sheath wrapped in goat skin. Tremendous fit and finish throughout!
