Description: An exceptional masterpiece by Fred Ott! This slender knife has tremendous presence and grace. The blade has a long swedge and has been distal tapered for optimal balance. This is accentuated by the tick spine (just over 1/4 inch!) at the ricasso. 1080 and 15N20 carbon steels have been combined into a tight, dramatic twist pattern.
The handle has been sculpted from ancient oosik. Textured bronze and damascus fittings add a tremendous accept. The collar is reminiscent of an art deco habaki. The damascus oval guard is surrounded by the blade collar and a fileworked bonze spacer.
Particular attention also went into the design and execution of the sheath, which features a goatskin wrap over basswood.
Showing his tremendous skill, this knife can be disassembled for thorough cleaning and repairs. It is accompanied by a tool the remove the handle. Tremendous fit and finish throughout!
