Description: Mastersmith Aaron Wilburn created this exceptional Fusion Tanto -- combining Western and Eastern elements into a truly masterful work!
The blade was forged to shape from W2 carbon steel. A traditional clay zone heat treatment resulted a clear hamon traveling across the blade. The undulating line shows the transition between soft, supportive steel at the spine and hard cutting steel at the edge. The flats are forge finished.
The handle is formed from a stabilized wildebeest leg bone wrapped in lizard skin. This was then wrapped in traditional style with leather bands. The guard is formed from antique wrought iron recovered from a wagon wheel that came across frontier America on the Oregon Trail. A silicon bronze spacer is textured and heat colored, bringing in warmth.
The knife is accompanied by a basket weave pattern, pouch style leather sheath.
This exceptional knife shows off Mastersmith Aaron Wilburn's work at its best -- from its unique design to skillful implementation!
