Description: Mastersmith Aaron Wilburn created this exceptional Kwaiken combining Western and Eastern elements into a truly masterful work!
The tanto blade is hand forged to shape from W2 carbon steel. A traditional clay zone heat treatment results a clear hamon traveling across the blade. The line travelling across the blade shows the transition between soft, supportive steel at the spine and hard cutting steel at the edge. The flats are forge finished in a brute de forge style.
The presentation grade desert ironwood handle is wrapped in traditional Japanese style with kangaroo leather. The kangaroo leather provides a sure grip and fills out the hand nicely. A front 'bolster' is formed from cross-cut mammoth ivory.
This knife is accompanied by a pouch style leather sheath formed from 8-9oz leather by Wicket & Craig.
Exceptional work throughout!
