Description: Journeyman Smith Keith Fludder resides in New South Wales, Australia. He started making knives in 1989 is now a full time maker.
Keith's knives are works of art that excel in performance. This Hamon Fighter is a perfect example of his work. The clip point, recurve blade was forged closely to shape. A traditional Japanese clay zone heat treatment results in a dramatic heat treatment line called a hamon. This undulating line is the transition between the soft, supportive spine, and the keen, long lasting edge. A long swedge brings weight out of the front of the blade. Filework along the spine provides a secure thumb purchase.
The ebony handle is carved to swell in the middle, move into a slimmer waist, and finish in the rounded beak. Copper in the central mosaic pin and the spacers brings in warmth.
The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched, tooled pouch style leather sheath.
Exceptional work throughout!
