Description: This exceptional Tanto shows Fred Ott's work at its best. This Japanese-style tanto grabs the imagination from first sight.
The blade was forged to shape from Fred's own damascus, beginning with 1080 and 15N20 carbon steels. The laddered damascus is immediately captivating. A copper habaki (blade guard) protects the blade from scratches when stored in the wooden sheath (saya). A mosaic damascus tsuba separates the habaki from the handle.
The handle and matching sheath are formed from camphor burl with dovetailed ebony accents. As is traditional, the handle disassembles using a single pin at the center of the handle. Fred has carved this pin from bamboo.
Exceptional fit and finish throughout!
