Description: This knife is the collaborative work of Mastersmiths Andrew Meers Jason Knight. Jason forged and shaped the blade while Andrew made the furniture and engravings. The results are just as stunning as one might expect coming from these two incredible makers!
The blade was forged to shape by Jason Knight beginning with 5160 carbon steel. It features an elegant antique 'mustard' finish. A long raised clip stops just short of being fully sharpened. A fuller is carved into the spine before the blade moved into the raised clip.
Andrew Meers carved the African blackwood handle to be reminiscent of a classic katana sword wrap. The scales are set on the distal tapered full tang. It has been hand fileworked into a deep cut vine pattern. Stainless liners really make the filework on the tang stand out. The scales meet perfectly with textured, antiqued O1 carbon steel bolsters. The right bolster is inlaid with a lifelike sterling silver hummingbird. It is captured, as though in flight, searching for a flower's nectar. The left side features a daylily. The stem and flowers are inlaid with fine silver. The flowers are inlaid with mokume that Meers forged from copper and fine silver. Both the daylily and hummingbird were meticulously engraved after being inlaid for lifelike realism.
This knife is accompanied by a black leather sheath, inlaid with white stingray skin. Rayskin is one of the toughest and most elegant materials available for tactical knife sheaths. The white rayskin provides a stunning contrast set beneath the black leather.
A dramatic collaborative knife for the serious collector. Excellent fit and finish throughout!
